International Segment: Recommends Humsafar! Episode # 7 update

Love is in the Air!!

Love is a simple emotion – pure, beautiful, and wholesome. It is the small everyday things that one does for each other that makes loving someone as effortless and natural as breathing. Ashar and Khirad’s marriage may have begun on a sour note but it is their inherent honesty that compels them to discover each other and build a future together with love as a foundation.

‘The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love, love someone else’

There is nothing more painful than to watch the person you love so deeply, in turn falling in love with someone else right in front you. There are some who lock themselves up and give in to the feeling of having lost, and there are others who refuse to give in to the feeling of utter helplessness and do everything in their power to win back their love. Sara belongs to the latter and sees it beneath herself to even accept the fact that Ashar is moving ahead without her. Casting insults at Khirad in a veiled manner under the guise of her outspokenness is one way of ensuring she gets ‘her Ashar’ back.

But did she ever have him in the first place? Its evident she never did. Since love is blind and in her case, even deaf, Sara shows no signs of relenting easily.

Rangmunch Moment of the Episode: Declaration of Love!
‘Main Ashar se Bepanah mohabbat karne lagi hoon’

Can this feeling of realization that you have fallen in love, deeply, sincerely, and irrevocably with someone, be ever adequately explained in words? I think not. This is something that needs to be felt.

And feel we do, in this very scene where more than mere words are exchanged between Ashar and Khirad. Khirad glows with the knowledge and power of love while Ashar sits down beside her to complete the canvas that is created on screen. A thousand words are spoken between them with their eyes while just a few choicest of them pass their lips. Two people come together as strangers who don’t believe in ‘us’ and slowly, with patience, understanding, and the virtue of being themselves, find a way into each others hearts.

On a personal note, this is one of the best declarations of love I have ever seen – A simple sketch of love in its purest form!

Rangmunch Performance of the Episode: Dialogues!

Watch the episode and you will know why the dialogues without an iota of doubt walk away with the Rangmunch Performance of the Episode tag.

The dialogues have become the soul of the scenes in this episode. For the first time in many moons, I was going back and forth to drink in the words. Here are few of them you carry in your heart and mind, well into the night to snuggle with, after watching this episode.

* “Kabhi kabaar mujhe lagta hai jaise tum mujhe kisi neki ke badle mil gayi ho, kisi sachchi dil se nikli dua ke badle” ~ Ashar admits to Khirad that he is very lucky to have her in his life.

* “Mrs. Ashar Hussain, aap jo marzi karle aap hamesha khoobsurat lagti hain” Seeing Khirad blush at his praise, he teases her further by saying, “Ab agar aapne sharmaliya to chalen”.

* “Tum bahut achchi lag rahi thi Khirad, balki itni achchi lag rahi thi ki mujhe dar lag raha tha ki meri hi nazar na lag jaaye” Ashar reassures Khirad when she doubts her choice of dress for Sara’s birthday party.

* "Main Ashar se bepanah mohabbat karne lagi hoon. Mera dil karta hain ki main poori ki poori Ashar ki pasand ke saanche mein dhal javoon. Jo Ashar ko pasand hain woh apna loon, jo unhe na pasand hai woh hamesha keliya chod doon" ~ Khirad writes about her feelings for Ashar to her best friend Afsheen.

* "Aur ye nahi bataya apni dost ko ki tum mujshe kitni mohabbat karti ho. Ke jab main koi bhi kaam kar raha hota hoon, tum mujhe tiktiki baandke dekhti rehti ho aur jab  main tumhe dekhta hoon tum aankhon mein aankhe daal ke nahi dekhti ho jaise ki abhi" ~ Ashar to Khirad

* "Main itna khush hoon ki khushi ka lavz mere liye chota padta hain" ~ Ashar on how happy he is with her.

* "Lekin woh (Khirad) jaise bhi hai woh mere liye bahut eham hai" ~ Ashar reinforces Khirad's importance in his life to Sara.

* "Khirad, tum mere liye bahut khaas ho. Kabhi bhi apne aap ko kamtar mat samajhna, warna mujhe lagega ki mere pyaar mein koi kami reh gayi" ~ Ashar repeatedly reassures Khirad of his unconditional love for her with these heartening words.

 A Special Mention: Director’s Vision!

An episode where dialogues took center stage, there is a particular scene devoid of words that need a special mention. This scene of 30 seconds has redefined the word ‘drama’ for me. After her birthday party in which Sara goes all out to be rude to Khirad in front of her friends, she is shown standing in front of a mirror, retiring for the night. The expressions on Sara’s face clearly underline what she is feeling – a feeling of triumph of having put her tormentor in place all by herself. Watch out for her body language that reeks of achievement and sense of pride in herself for doing what she did. Kudos to the director for placing that scene in the sequence, which effectively and seamlessly lifts the narrative a few notches higher. Naveen Waqar needs an ovation for this scene.

Precap for Episode # 8:

One can smell jealousy in this one and half-minute preview of episode 8. Khirad is seen entering a college for her higher education where she meets someone named Khizar. We will have to wait a wee bit longer to know who Khizar is and why is he seen at Ashar’s home. Is there going to be trouble in paradise?

  1. thanks for review dear
    its very well written
    7th episode was superb
its always hard for me to choose the best scene of the episode bcoz all KhiSher scenes were awesome but if i have to choose one then i 'll go for the scene in which khirad is asking asher that which dress she should wear in the party. this scene was emotional ,romantic and a little funny at also i love it when asher said "my darling ap kisi bhi joray mein achi lgain gi jis tarah k abhi bilkul zarday ki daig lg ri hein" lolz
and the favorite dialogue is frm the same scene "tm meray liye boht khas ho kabhi bhi khud ko kamter mat samjhna warna mujhe lgay ga meray pyar me koi kami reh gai" ahhhhh wat a beautiful dialogue farhat ji ur dialogues r amazing.
and this play is very well directed i must say. theytry to capture every emotion, scene and thought which is described in novel. a very well executed novel based play. hats off to sarmad khosat for his beautiful direction.

when i was watching the drama and any romantic scene came i was imagining fawad and mahira blushing and laughing as the director said in an interview "yeh wo bachay hein jo romantic scenes pr blush krna shuru kr daitay hein" and then "romantic scenes pr hans hans k gir rhay hotay thay" lolz.
anyways thanks again for the review.

  2. Neeru, thank you so much for your summary and insight. This show is so beautifully done and I love the realistic portrayal. Ashar and Khirad are the new couple that we all should love, want things to work out between them with no misunderstanding. But looks like trouble is on the way in form of new man, Khizer! Can't wait to see how he comes in to Khirad's life.

  3. u are amazing, i LOVE what you do with the reviews, especially Humsafar, cz thats what i read every week without fail.
There's definitely trouble in paradise from now, but lets just feel good at the moment, by forgetting what was in the precap and whats gonna come and enjoying the episode for now.
Loved the email to afsheen wala scene
the 'zarde ki daig' scene, where he tells her how IMP she is to him and that she doesnt need 2 get involved in any fashion parade is exquisite, Mahira's expressions steal the show and Fawad's delivery, hotness and gentleness cannot be neglected. Loved how he brought her the necklace from China, but im disappointed, cz in novel, he had brought her a chain, a necklace, which had a heart and a picture had 2 get inserted in both sides, and he puts in his pictures in both sides and gifts it to her on her bday LOL, that wud b cute, as their daughter will recognize him thru that, but i guess thats nomore happening now :(
NTL, everything was very well executed! :D

  4. Shafaq, Mano, and Arena thank you! :)

I loved the zarde ki daig scene but had to clarify with my friend to understand what those three words meant :-)

  5. one thing i want to point out to all the criticism about slow pace of drama is that i love how they are showing different layers of personalities of the main characters.they are showing ashar to become possessive and jealous over khirad over time(first hints potrayed beautifully through his “baysti” of sara) . i also liked how they built up khirads character over the first 5 episodes about her egoistic nature and pride which will also cause problems in the future

the whole point of the drama is that two people when they do form a bond of love and as intense (as of that of khirad and ashar), how fragile is it? little things (and misunderstandings) add up to bigger things that lead to tremendous problems in peoples relationship and trust.

but overall i still find humsafar the best thing to watch on tv so far, nothing innovative about the story, just the way its told is beautiful. :)

  6. i just found this blog n read abt Humsafar, thnks Neeruj for the beautiful review.. im a big fan of Farhat since my teenage i luv her evry story.. n i always used to think that Farhat's hero don't exist in real life.. but after watching Humsfar i realized No.. i was wrong they can exist in form of Fawad as Ashar.. i luv this show n i luv the novel ..but being the diehard fan of novel.. i sometimes want to see the scenes badly Myfav secen would be plant one.. in novel she also cooks for him for the first time n it was a beautiful n romatic thing but director didn't shoot the whole thing.. im not here to critisize.. anyways My fav secene frm this episode defintely would be:Zarday ki daig" Zarda is a sweet dish made frm rice coloured yellow.. so i luv this scene n laugh evrytime i watch it.. n since i live in U.S. so i wake up at 9 in morning just to watch its episode in silence while my kids r sleeping:))

  7. wow u have written so beautifully... it made me more in love to characters and story :) i am so big fan of writer Farhat Ishtiaq... her writings simply touches our heart and make us believe in love more and more.. so i personally love all dialogues that you have quoted above :)

  13. Neeraja luv ur blog.... luv humsafar...

  14. Absolutely fantastic Post Humsafar Novel Lots of great information and inspiration, both of which we all need! Thank you for another great article.

  15. In my Opinion, this drama will probably have a happy ending. Now all I am hoping for is that this happy ending be brought in a realistic way. What I mean is, judging from Khirad's harsh words and attitude towards Asher, and the ill-feelings that have grown for him in her heart, it does not seem like she has any intention of having a future with him. She does not even for a second miss him or replay her old times with him. Let's hope the reunion of Khirad and Asher is well captured and the story is portrayed in a realistic way! LOVE the drama!!

  16. Missing "HUMSAFAR" very much and sill watching it on monday at 09:45 P.M on HUM TV.I had and have "HUMSAFAR"addiction and can't leave it easily.

  17. Fantastic drama, awesome review, exceptional acting - amazing!
