Royal Academy!!! A typical school, students with different facets, rich and middle class, different backgrounds with varied notions of upbringing, eccentricities galore. A principal who is more concerned about the future of the students, their purpose behind their pranks, a vice-principal, who believes that drastic punishment is the answer for all unruly behavior; a very natural picture of schools in real life.
KD, the angry young man, yet soft in heart, respects and understands the values and morals of life. He may not get along with Kia and be aloof, but he would always help a friend in need, or protect a lady in danger. Kia on the other hand, always being compared with her celebrity sister, sure does not get any slack. If she seems snooty and arrogant, then it is her insecurities that seem to play a big role in her behavior. Thirsty for her mother’s love and attention, she is compelled to be the diva to get that attention elsewhere.
Ranveer, the Casanova and Panchi, his childhood friend and bouncing board; make a very cute pair. Very obvious that Panchi is smitten by Ranveer and always make sure he stays out of trouble. And Ranveer can’t stand anyone insult Panchi and he has the exclusive copyright to call his friend ‘Moti'. Ranveer is fiercely protective of his ‘Moti’ and he really would go to any lengths to make sure she smiles all the time. Now will he realize that Panchi has become more than a friend, is something I would like know.
Piddi and Bobby, the comedians of the group; and the stress busters. Although Bobby seems to be a little more serious than Piddi, she’s got a good sense of humor. Piddi is the ultimate comedian and he is sinfully goofy and perfect for the role. Despite his façade of comic, he is one smart kid who loves his friends and tries to keep it smooth among all.
Despite their individual differences, along with Samar, the whole group still believes in loyalty and standing up for their school. They might be taking pages out of the legendry ‘Junlgee’, yet they are intelligent and good-hearted kids. Now it is left to us to follow their school years and see how the real junglee, Anirudh Jaitley will handle this bunch, without loosing his patience and head. Right now it is a battle of wits between the youngsters and the teachers, and wonder if these two parties can become buddies.
Life is a book of experiences and these very experiences are what molds us people. As we learn from our teachers, dealing with students is also a learning experience for teachers. Going to school is just not about getting an education; it is a preparation for the life ahead, socially and mentally.
KD and Kia, Ranveer and Panchi, Piddi and Bobby, Samar – the main characters of the channel V show “The Buddy Project”, seem to have fallen into their individual roles pretty easily. So let’s make sure we do not miss a single day at Royal Academy, as these bunch of kids, understand the rules of education as they sort out their weaknesses and come out as toppers with their strength.
