And not a silent one. Where Monday began with the Weaklings’ well crafted and even better executed act-with-a-message, the days that have followed have followed with things expected and unexpected, happy and sad, exciting and frustrating, all in one plateful of entertainment, albeit not of the most pleasant kind.
Footloose, the competition the two teams have been gearing up for since the show began, finally came and went out with a cacophonic bang. One miscommunication, and the odds shift in the Dazzlers’ favour in the competition, in the Weaklings’ favour in terms of the larger response from the audience,
judges and VP alike, and in the midst of it all, completely and totally out of favour for Sharon Raiprakash. She has unwittingly become the eye of the Weaklings v/s Dazzlers storm, and it’s doing what such a situation would do to any normal human being: disorienting her and breaking her down, bit by bit. So much so that she’s begun to doubt even Swayam, the only member of the Weaklings gang who hasn’t doubted her in the chaos. In the meantime Taani blames herself for having backed out as sixth dancer, Rey continues to struggle with his emotions towards her, and watching like a happy and very smug spectator, Shivam has a ball.
The highlights of this week, one might say, have been the Weaklings’ performance at Footloose, the sequence that immediately followed, with the gang rivalry rearing its ugly face again as the Weaklings point fingers at Sharon (one was surprised to see Neha in an unusually vicious avatar…channeling the missing Vishakha for now, are we?), and finally the last sequence of the week, alternating between two conversations of very different tones: Rey-Taani and Sharon-Swayam. Some fabulous editing brought out the silent yet barely concealed emotions between Rey and Taani in stark contrast with Sharon’s thoroughly non-silent frustration, anger and pain. Swayam watched her, pained at seeing her so upset, blaming herself somewhere within, perhaps adopting the very Sharon-esque mode of aggression-is-the-best-form-of-defense as she struggles with something that really is beyond her control. They are both right in their spaces, but everything around them seems to be crashing and as Swayam says at the close of the week, Sharon is pushing him away…
The week gone by has been a very testing one for Dosti and Dil alike, therefore, with the Dazzler/Weakling divide re-surfacing, and Sharon and Swayam’s relationship hitting troubled waters yet again…while the beginning of next week seems to promise an intensification of the sadness, here’s hoping the end of it brings all D3 lovers some happy respite. Amen to optimism.
