At that point though all I could think of was flying on wings of love to my beloved. And then it struck me – this evening was the prom and I had done nothing – no prep, no arrangements, big fat zip.

Prom Night.

So here I am. Not inside, amongst the couples pirouetting on the dance floor, the soulful ballads and the fragrant, sense tingling nearness of their sweethearts setting their hearts patter-pit.

The inevitability of going to the prom with Devika was weighing on my mind, I admit but simultaneously my heart was being weighed down by a far greater tragedy that was looming closer and closer.

It wasn’t that I consciously set out to fall for Alisha. Not at all. But did I consciously try and stop myself? Though in my defence I must say that right through those dreamy days and weeks I wasn’t consciously trying to control myself, Alisha, or any of those magical moments we shared. I just went with the flow.
