The second episode of ‘Scandal’ does not disappoint. It starts with ‘salacious and fun’ written all over it, just the way a scandal should be but soon scales into a higher ground of sacrifice and love with secrets no longer hidden. Well, not all.

Quinn Perkins once again mirrors us in the quest to learn about Olivia’s new client, who happens to be a high class madame in DC, Sharon Marquette, supplying high end call girls to the elite, which also includes eminent politicians. One of her new girls slips up and tells all to the cops, earning Olivia a brand new client in Sharon. Mission: To save everyone’s reputation!

scandalTo Olivia’s horror, one such casualty found in the long list of her clients, is the president’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Patrick Keating. As luck would have it, this case vaults Olivia back to the West Wing, to warn the President, Cyrus and her ‘friend-in-arms’ chief of staff Billy about the imminent scandal if they continue with the announcement of the nomination. When she talks to Keating and his wife, she realizes that Keating was never a client and he ended up in the list because of his wife, which he knows nothing of.

All hinges on the list not getting out but with David hell bent on retrieving it, makes it almost impossible for Olivia to work her magic. But then Olivia’s ‘white hat being bigger than David’s’ she does the trick by gathering all the influential ones in the list and convinces them to press for Keating’s nomination to go through without a hitch. Voila! Case solved! Madame folds her business, David happy! List remains a secret, White House thrilled!

scandal dirty little secretsAmanda Tanner’s story is a ticking bomb waiting to explode and Quinn intercepts a DC Sun reporter, Gideon, sniffing around the hospital for a byline that could save the dying newspaper. It was good to see Eli Loker of ‘Lie to me’ make a comeback in ‘Scandal’. He looks as adorable as ever. Quinn convinces Amanda to find shelter and guidance with Olivia to escape the hounding press. Gideon follows both into the offices of Olivia Pope and instantly, it goes from ‘no story to big one’. Bad for Amanda, very good for us. Bring out the scandal, bring on the drama!

I specifically love Abby’s constant mutter jabber alternating between morals and Stefan. She is oh so blunt about her dislike for Stefan’s philandering ways and oh so obvious being crazy about him. She doesn’t even realize that she is like an open book for everyone to read.

Next episode sees Olivia fix another case while trying to keep the reporter off Amanda Tanner’s story.

Catch ‘Scandal’ @ 11 pm Saturday on Zee Café.
