Series Creator Andrew Marlowe, and actors Stana Katic, Jon Huertas, and Seamus Dever were very forthcoming when TVLine posed queries regarding the upcoming season.
The season will start right where the previous one left off. Nope, not the memorable rainy night when Kate leads Rick towards, what we presume, his bedroom but the morning after. That’s great news for those dreading a big time-jump. We would love to see these two playing lovey-dovey couple before reality sets in.
Beckett’s resignation will be a focal point in the season premier but hey, will there be a ‘Castle’ if there is no case for Beckett to investigate? I fear not! So no guesses there, though we shall have to wait till the second episode for her to get back into the precinct.
Uh ho! Trouble in bromance and justifiably so! Ryan betrayed Esposito and Kate when he went behind their backs to inform the chief, which is a serious breach of trust in Esposito’s bro-code. Ryan, on the other hand, justifies his act with the fact that his meddling saved Beckett’s life. No arguments there Bro! Seriously, thanks for saving her life, Ryan. I just cannot get over the fact that if he hadn’t she wouldn’t be alive. But the team is mum about how their relationship is going to survive this storm.
Marlowe also hinted at a ‘meet the parents’ episode being planned with Jim Beckett, Kate, Castle, his mother Martha having dinner together. It would be fun to watch a repeat of Castle putting his foot into his mouth when talking to his ‘girlfriend’s’ father.
Castle’s father is still a touchy subject with the team fleshing out the details for his entry. Will we see him emerge in Season 5 is anyone’s guess. It is understood that the mystery built around his father over the last four seasons has to be justified with a strong characterization based on a stronger script. I am probably more excited to see his father than Castle will ever be.
Andrew Marlowe, when asked if we will ever find out if Beckett sports a tattoo, signs off with, “I think it’s safe to say that Rick has seen Kate’s Tattoo.” I cannot wipe the goofy grin off my face after hearing that. Three Cheers to Kate’s Tattoo!!! :-)
